So how do you start up your sprinkler system?
This is a multiple step process and can be difficult if your system was not properly winterized. First you want to open the system main water valve slowly to allow the pipes to fill with water gradually. If the valves are opened too quickly, sprinkler main lines are subjected to high surge pressures, uncontrolled flow which can cause the sprinkler system to crack or burst. Next you want to verify the proper operation of each station valve by manually activating all zones from the controller. After you need to walk to each station and check for proper operation of the zone. Check for proper operating pressure, rotation and adjustment of sprinkler heads and adequate coverage. You will want to check and clean filters on poorly performing sprinklers, and adjust hads to grade as necessary. Next, you want to reprogram the controller for automatic watering, replace the controller back-up battery if necessary. Finally uncover and clean the system weather sensor.
As you can see this process is very long and tedious, and if you have any major issues you will have to contact a professional. If you want to save time and get your sprinkler system properly set-up, call someone you can trust. Wet and Wild Irrigation is here and ready for you to help get your lawn looking amazing for the summer months.
